London songwriter and Transgressive signing Arlo Parks' relatable tracks have proven the fresh-faced singer to be a shining light in the capital's emerging music scene. Wise beyond her years, Parks' compositions are accomplished and affecting as we heard on her early 2020 masterpiece, which discussed mental health problems 'Black Dog'. New single 'Hurt' is another emotive cut, setting Parks' characterful vocals over a groovy acoustic beat and an intricate bass line. Increasing in intensity with the introduction of tasteful saxophone blasts, the contemplative pre-chorus  "Wouldn't it be lovely to feel something for once?" gives rise to an uplifting chorus that's bright instrumentation directly contrasts the painful lyrical content.
